So proud of our granddaughter Emma (2nd from the right). Emma's high school offers classes in American sign language and Friday night was their Christmas program. |
Friday night we were lucky enough to see the LaPorte, TX School District's ASL Christmas Program. It was amazing! No, Emma is not hearing impaired. Emma is a sophomore and this is her second year of sign language (it is one of the foreign language options). LaPorte schools have offered ASL as a class for 19 years. The program was two hours long and consisted of large and small groups signing Christmas carols to a full auditorium. A special invitation was extended to the hearing-impaired in the community.
